About Your Writer

I am Ryan Gabriel. I’m an writer, an artist and a filmmaker. After years of trying to figure it all out, I’ve finally found film as my first love, but I firmly beleive that creativity builds upon creativity. With that in mind I use art to enhance my writing, filmmaking and vice versa.
I’ve spent most of my higher education trying to figure it out what I was meant to do. First taking art classes at Santa Monica College, then enrolling in the animation program at the Art Institute of California – Los Angeles, from which I dropped out from before finally finding my niche in the Media Arts program at Los Angeles Valley College with hopes of becoming a screenwriter.
It took me a long time to come to the realization that I wanted to tell stories for a living, and I hope to one day write and direct films that will touch, entertain, humor, and inspire people the same way my favorite films have done so for me. I’ve been told that I talk to much, that all I do is tell random stories, even as a kid. It’s funny how looking back can make you realize that maybe you were meant to do this all along. I think story is fundamental to the human condition and without it there would be no history, no music, no creativity.
Despite my goals as a writer and filmmaker, I have recently rediscovered my passion for art, something that I had abandoned after dropping out of art school. I’ve come to find that it balances my other creative outlets and serves as another platform for story.
I’ve spent years seeking to be inspired, to stumble across that one “Aha!” moment that will yeild a masterpiece, only to find that it’s the little things that inspire. I’ve found comfort in the belief that the muse is always present if you look hard enough.
I created this blog for three reasons: 1. To keep myself writing. 2. To try and document the little things that inspire me in my search for amazing stories. 3. With the hope that my musings may inspire others.
I hope to accomplish all three, especially the third, a writer is nothing without an audience.
